Bear Warning - Elbow Valley, Moose Mountain and West Bragg Creek Trail Networks

August 13, 2017

  • Effective Date: Sunday, August 13, until further notice
  • Where: All Elbow Valley Trail network, Moose Mountain Trail Network and West Bragg Creek Trail network
  • Why: Numerous bear sightings due to bumper buffalo berry crop

Although an advisory is in place for this area, bears can be encountered anywhere in Kananaskis Country at any time. To avoid a surprise encounter with a bear:

  • Make plenty of noise and travel in groups.
  • Be aware of your surroundings. Look and listen for bears and their signs.
  • Keep your pet on a leash.
  • Carry bear spray. Make sure it’s easily accessible, and know how to use bear spray (video).
  • Learn more about bear safety on our webpage or at WildSmart.

Please report all bear sightings immediately to 403-591-7755.

Construction Advisory - Fullerton Loop

Please be advised that construction work will be occurring in the Fullerton Loop Trailhead Parking Lot from August 1 to August 18, 2017.  The parking lot will remain open with restrictions during this period.

Construction Advisory - Allen Bill Day Use

August 02, 2017

Please be advised that construction work will be occurring in the Allen Bill Day Use Area from August 1 to October 15, 2017.  The Day Use Area will remain open with restrictions from August 1-August 14, and will be closed to the public from August 14 to October 15, 2017.

Bear Warning - Paddy's Flat Campground and surrounding trails

July 26, 2017

  • Effective Date: July 25, 2017 until further notice
  • Where: Paddy's Flat Campground and surrounding trails
  • Why: Black bear in the campground and surrounding areas, feeding on berries

Although an advisory is in place for this area, bears can be encountered anywhere in Kananaskis Country at any time. To avoid a surprise encounter with a bear:
