  • Wolverine: Ultimate Fighting Champion

    • The wolverine is a legendary creature known to be fierce and cunning. Yet, it is one of the least understood carnivores in Alberta's Northern Rockies. Come and learn the surprising truth about the wolverine and why it's regarded as the "ultimate fighting champion".
    • This program is 45 minutes long. Children should be accompanied by adults. All events are subject to change.

  • Guided Hike: Tracks and Traces

    • You may not always see animals in the forest, but you will see the signs they leave behind - tracks, scat, bones and more! Learn to see the forest through the eyes of a tracker and hiking will never be the same again!
    • This program is 1 hour long. Children should be accompanied by adults. All events are subject to change.

    • Come to Switzer Park’s caribou extravaganza and…. Watch a ghost caribou haunt a poacher! Join a caribou herd to learn about population declines! Laugh at Santa and Rudolph as they try to survive in the woods!  
    • Caribou are in a dire situation in the Northern Rockies, but learning about them is one thing we can do to help.
    • The show is fun for all ages. 
    • Every Saturday from July 14th - September 1st (*with the exception of Parks Day on July 21st).
    • Park at shower building. No dogs please. All events are subject to change.

    Skulls! Pelts! Tracks! Fire!

    Learn about the wildlife and cultural history of Switzer Park. Try to out leap a mountain lion, hold the skull of a grizzly, or spark a fire using flint and steel. Topics vary week to week, so be sure to pick up a program schedule at Gregg Booth or the Visitor Center.  

    Program Times:

    6:00pm-6:45pm at Gregg Amphitheater.

    7:30pm-8:15pm at Lakeside Loop (by picnic shelter).

    All children must be accompanied by an adult. All events are subject to change.

    Ride the Rockies to end MS!

    • The Johnson MS Mountain Bike is a unique, adrenaline packed weekend unlike any other.

    • The longest standing MS Mountain Bike event of its kind, this ride has something for all riders.

    • Whether you are a seasoned veteran or a beginner rider join us.

    • All you need is a bike and the passion the end MS.

    • With over 300 cyclists in attendance this two-day, 90km mountain ride offers panoramic mountain views, double and single track trails with rest stops as well as additional challenge loops for those experienced riders.

    • Enjoy weekend celebrations that include beer gardens, entertainment, great food and a profound sense of accomplishment. 

    • 1st day starts in Hinton, ends at Kelley's Bathtub Day Use.  2nd day starts at Kelley's Bathtub Day Use, ends in Hinton
