The shorelines of the reservoir and the open surrounding grassy landscape with gently rolling hills is ideal for bird watchers. It should be noted that there are no toilets, fire pits or picnic tables provided. The vacant crown land that surrounds this small parcel of land is a pheasant release site for the Alberta Conservation Association. Bigelow Reservoir Provincial Recreation Area serves as a staging area for pheasant hunters and hunting dog trials.
Off-season access to the park depends on snow conditions. There is no snow removal at this park.
