              • Birding: The Lesser Slave Lake region is a designated Important Bird Area. Up to 20% of the western population of tundra swans stop to feed on the lake. Reeds around the lake provide nesting habitat for a globally important western grebe population. The area has an incredible concentration and diversity of migrant songbirds, including yellow warbler, bay-breasted warbler and red-eyed vireo. A Songbird Festival is held in the park each spring.
              • Boating: There is no boat launch within the park due to the topography of the east end of Lesser Slave Lake and prevailing winds. Motor boats can be launched at the MD of Lesser Slave River boat launch, south of the park at Lesser Slave River.  There is no charge for boat launching and parking is available.
              • Golfing: Gilwood Golf and Country Club is located in the park.
              • Trails: There are trails for hiking, biking and cross-country skiing. In summer, some trails provide access to beach ridges and sand dunes.
              • Viewpoint: Marten Mountain Viewpoint overlooks Lesser Slave Lake, the largest auto-accessible lake in Alberta.
