Why is there a 5-night stay limit in group camping areas?
The 5-night limit is meant to provide fair and equitable access to camping opportunities.
Most other jurisdictions in Canada have 14-night stay limits.
Is there a maximum 90-day window to book a group camping area?
No. Group camping area reservations can be made for the entire season on opening day.
What happens if someone wants to book the same group camping area I'm trying to book?
Until you move a group camping area into your shopping cart, it remains available to others.
Group camping areas placed in your shopping cart are held for 20 minutes. During this time, no one else can book that area.
You will receive a warning just before your time expires.
Can I reserve a campsite on behalf of friends or family?
Yes. However, bookings for others must be within the limit of one group camping area reservations per transaction.
Can I extend my stay at a group camping area?
Yes - subject to availability. Contact campground staff for assistance. At a self-registration campground, phone theContact Centre at 1-877-537-2757 to check the availability of your group camping area.
Online reservations are campsite-specific. If the group camping area you are in has been reserved by someone else following your reservation, you would have to move to an available area to extend your stay.
What if I forget to bring my permit or confirmation letter?
At a campground with staff onsite, registration booth staff will assist you.
At a self registration campground, there may be no staff to assist you. It is especially important to print and bring your permit for these campgrounds. Staff will verify your reservation when they patrol the campground.
If you cannot print the permit, please note the group camping area of your reservation so you know which area to occupy.
Fees, Payments & Refunds
Why do all camping fees have to be prepaid when making an online reservation?
It is administratively more efficient and cost-effective to have all fees prepaid by credit card.
Prepayment of camping fees is standard practice on all online campground reservation systems in Canada.
Why are some group campgrounds so much more expensive than others?
Some group campgrounds require prepayment for 5 units while others charge for a minimum of 10 units.
If power is available at the group camping area, the fee is charged when the reservation is made; however, it may be discounted later if power isn't used during your visit.
Why don't I get my reservation fee back if I cancel my reservation?
Reservation fees are retained to help offset the cost of providing reservation services.
Most provincial park agencies in Canada charge a nonrefundable reservation fee.
How long will it take to receive my refund for a cancellation?
If you are eligible for a refund, it is initiated as soon as the information is entered into the system.
Refunds are processed as quickly as possible - usually within two weeks.
The refund is applied to the credit card used to make the original reservation.
For possible refunds, keep depleted prepaid cards even after expiry.
