Many people and many touch points means higher risks. Alberta Parks continues to maintain backcountry facilities, but increased use and limited cleaning capacity in the backcountry means higher risks for everyone. Please do your part to help keep facilities clean.
You are responsible for your safety and cleanliness in the backcountry. Be prepared – bring your own hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies and toilet paper. Remember, these and any scented items are bear attractants. Store them in the bear-proof lockers on site.
Wash your hands or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer before and after coming into contact with communal surfaces. This includes door handles, toilet seats, bear-proof bin latches, picnic tables, axe handles, etc. Refrain from touching your face with unclean hands.
Practice “leave no trace.” Pack out everything you packed in and leave the area better than you found it.
Stay at least 2 meters away from people you do not live with. Go home if you are sick or experiencing symptoms.
