Amanda M

Traveller Type: Virtual Traveller

Amanda was born and raised in Alberta. She spends her time exploring and camping around this beautiful province with her boyfriend and two pups, Rufus and Ryder. When she isn't working she tries to get outside as much as possible through camping, hiking, snowshoeing, quading/dirt biking, or paddle boarding. Head over to her blog, Life in Alberta, to follow along on her adventures!

Karen U

Traveller Type: Authentic Experiencer

Karen is married to her backpacking sweetheart and is a mother and lover of maps, mountains, and mochas. With her Geography degree and experience leading hikes and backpacking trips in the Rockies, she is full of ideas on where to go and what to do. The mission of her blog, Play Outside Guide, is to provide “everything families need to know to get outside and have fun"

Kelsy N

Traveller Type: Cultural Explorer

Kelsy loves exploring Alberta with her two young daughters and her husband Tim. Together they write a blog, Twirls and Travels, all about their weekend summer adventures.  They love exploring places they've never been- especially finding those hidden Alberta gems. They tend to spend as much time as possible in the water, whether it be a river, a creek or a lake.  They also enjoy spending time connecting around a campfire and love to encourage other families to get out and do the same.

Marko S

Traveller Type: Authentic Experiencer

I have traveled to several countries and have seen some pretty amazing places, but there are not many places that compare to the beauty of our province. I think to being on top a mountain, observing eagles fly below and mountain valleys stretching as far as the eye can see, or kayaking on a pristine lake with a mirror reflection while loons call in the distance, or watching aurora dance in the foothills to the sound of coyotes howling. It is truly a remarkable place to live and explore. I look forward to rediscovering those special moments as a dad, and encouraging others to do the same though stories and photography.

Tanya K

Traveller Type: Authentic Experiencer

I'm the mom of a spunky 8 year-old boy and I live in Calgary. Our family makes it a priority to get outside year-round. In the summer, we enjoy a wide variety of mountain sports including hiking, camping, backpacking, mountain biking, rock climbing and paddling. I am an avid stand up paddleboarder and I especially love SUP paddling on rivers. The Red Deer River is one of my favourite places to paddle through the Alberta Badlands around Drumheller down to Dinosaur Provincial Park. In the winter we love skiing and snowshoeing. We do several ski trips into backcountry huts and cabins each winter and spend many weekends looking for frozen waterfalls.

Tyler D

Traveller Type: Cultural Explorer

I am originally from Saskatchewan, but have called Calgary, Alberta home for over nine years now.  I am a high school teacher with the Calgary Board of Education and my passions lie within the outdoor and physical education fields.

I volunteer with the GOT Parks initiative, which aims at reconnecting Canada’s youth with our national, provincial, and territorial parks, and the Calgary Guardian, where I am the Outdoor Editor in charge of reporting everything that makes Calgary’s enormous backyard an adventurer’s dreamland.

In my free time I enjoy numerous outdoor activities, such as hiking, mountain biking, paddling, camping, cross-country skiing, and snowboarding, as well as team sports, travelling, photography, spending time with good friends, and being at home with my wife and our dog, Rome.
