Amanda M

Traveller Type: Virtual Traveller

Amanda was born and raised in Alberta. She spends her time exploring and camping around this beautiful province with her boyfriend and two pups, Rufus and Ryder. When she isn't working she tries to get outside as much as possible through camping, hiking, snowshoeing, quading/dirt biking, or paddle boarding. Cassidy V

Traveller Type: Authentic Experiencer

I was born and raised in Central Alberta. I love to get outside and explore with my husband Wesley and pup Bohdi. This year my goal is to complete 40 hikes, so I'll often be found on the trail doing day hikes or backcountry camping. I love to explore our beautiful province and find new hidden gems to share with others. My favorite hikes often lead to remote lakes or waterfalls. When I'm not in the mountains I enjoy spending time with my family in the prairies.

Dawn A

Traveller Type: Authentic Experiencer

Dawn, her wife Sarah, and their dog Tucker are proud to call Alberta home. They have travelled all over the world but are most excited to explore their own backyard. They can be found exploring Alberta in their 1973 white and green Boler trailer, with their friendly travelling gnome Bert (short for alBERTa), who is an excellent tour guide. They both work as Physiotherapists and love the freedom their jobs allow for adventure time. Dawn’s passion for photography and the outdoors helps them discover many of the amazing things that this country has to offer. They enjoy travelling by gravel road, hiking, snowshoeing, and skiing - and are always up for a new Adventure.

Gary C

Traveller Type: Authentic Experiencer

Hi there! I’m a Calgary based landscape photographer who holds a passion for the world and an eye for the beauty it contains. Throughout the year, I spend much of my time exploring our Provincial Parks. Photography is my way of experiencing nature in a more intimate way and making a deeper connection with the natural environment. I love to chase the light and share the beauty of our landscape which is so close to home.

Leah S

Traveller Type: Authentic Experiencer

I grew up in Manitoba, so the mountains have always been incredible to see! I didn’t know how to get into hiking, but after going out with my friends a few times I became addicted! I now go hiking almost every weekend with new friends and encourage them to get outside and enjoy themselves!

When I’m not out adventuring I am an unofficial wifey to a wonderful man, a dog mama to two beautiful big dogs, and a full time dental assistant with a lot of time off! I love to see new places and always be on the go! The diversity of Alberta makes that possible every day!

Liz C

Traveller Type: Authentic Experiencer

As a 3rd year medical student and Emergency Medical Technician, I have an enormous respect for the importance of work-life balance. Alberta's outdoor parks are an endless source of adventure and mental health escape. You can find me skiing in the winter and backpacking, hiking, and scrambling in the summer, all over this province! I have also been able combine my passion for medicine and my passion for the outdoors by earning my Wilderness EMT certification and co-running the wilderness medicine club at the University of Alberta.

I am completing my upcoming year of medical school training in Slave Lake, AB. I am excited to explore my new surroundings and meet the outdoors community of Northern Alberta!  You will always find me with my adventure dog, Bones, in tow (or more likely, she will have me in tow).

If your goals don’t scare you a little bit, set bigger ones.

Marko S

Traveller Type: Authentic Experiencer

I have traveled to several countries and have seen some pretty amazing places, but there are not many places that compare to the beauty of our province. I think to being on top a mountain, observing eagles fly below and mountain valleys stretching as far as the eye can see, or kayaking on a pristine lake with a mirror reflection while loons call in the distance, or watching aurora dance in the foothills to the sound of coyotes howling. It is truly a remarkable place to live and explore. I look forward to rediscovering those special moments as a dad, and encouraging others to do the same though stories and photography.

Samantha H

Traveller Type: Authentic Experiencer

Originally from a very flat part of Canada, I fell in love with the mountains while doing an internship Switzerland among the beautiful Swiss Alps and decided to move to Alberta after graduating. At first, I thought that I just had the National Parks to explore, but I quickly discovered that the Provincial Parks are just as beautiful and much less crowded. Over the years I went from hiking to cross-country skiing to mountain biking to scrambling to rock climbing to backcountry skiing. There's no end to the adventures you can find in the Parks! This year, I started working in Pincher Creek maintaining Canada’s largest fleet of wind turbines. And I can't wait to explore the newly minted, nearby Castle Provincial Park and Castle Wildland Provincial Park while maintaining the Alberta Parks values of #Discover, #Protect, #Enjoy & #Value!

Sonja has been actively adventuring in the Rockies since she moved to Calgary nearly 5 years ago. She is extremely passionate about the outdoors and includes photography, kayaking, canoeing, camping, hiking, scrambling, skiing and more recently; climbing, among her many outdoors pursuits. Nicknamed "Safety Sonja" by her friends, Sonja believes that safety and fun can exist at the same time and strives to promote conservation and responsible exploration.

I am originally from Saskatchewan, but have called Calgary, Alberta home for over nine years now.  I am a high school teacher with the Calgary Board of Education and my passions lie within the outdoor and physical education fields.

I volunteer with the GOT Parks initiative, which aims at reconnecting Canada’s youth with our national, provincial, and territorial parks, and the Calgary Guardian, where I am the Outdoor Editor in charge of reporting everything that makes Calgary’s enormous backyard an adventurer’s dreamland.

In my free time I enjoy numerous outdoor activities, such as hiking, mountain biking, paddling, camping, cross-country skiing, and snowboarding, as well as team sports, travelling, photography, spending time with good friends, and being at home with my wife and our dog, Rome.
