Between February 26 and April 25, 2010, Albertans were invited to share their feedback on a proposed conceptual design for facility development at English Bay Provincial Recreational Area.
Based on feedback during the consultation process, and from the archaeological work, a campground design was completed and approved.
As a result of the archaeological finds and the cultural history of this site, the Province has been working with Cold Lake First Nations on developing a dual language signage and interpretive program for the site.
The project will eventually include 120 modernized campsites, improvements to the day use area, playground, and washrooms. The first phase of the project, commencing July 11, 2016, will include the refurbishment of two camping loops in the south campground (47 stalls), a new access road, and the expansion of the boat launch parking lot. Phase 2 of the project will be built in the spring of 2017 and will include three additional camping loops, day use area improvements, and playground.
