Between January 26 and March 26, 2010 Albertans were invited to share their feedback on a proposed conceptual design for facility development at Peace River area parks.
The sites included in the design are the 12 Foot Davis gravesite within Greene Valley Provincial Park, Peace River Provincial Recreation Area, and adjacent Crown land which includes a memorial cairn for Dr. William Greene. The design was prepared in partnership with the Town of Peace River, Northern Sunrise County and the Government of Alberta.
To improve recreational, educational, and tourism opportunities at the parks, proposed upgrades include interpretative signs describing the area's natural and cultural history, parking lot improvements, day-use facilities including benches and picnic tables, and an expanded trail network.
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the draft concept design. Valuable input was collected during this public consultation process.
All of the information gathered from public feedback has been reviewed. Please take a look at "What We Heard".
Based on public feedback, Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation is moving forward on implementing the concept design, with the 12 Foot Davis site being the first priority in implementation. Construction at the 12 Foot Davis site in Greene Valley Provincial Park is expected to begin late summer 2010.
