Location: Peaceful Valley Day Lodge Campground (Peaceful Valley PRA)
Ideal Placement Dates: Aug 3 - Sep 30
Peaceful Valley Day Lodge is seeking a group of hosts (e.g. couple or family) for a single partial-season placement. Returning volunteers will be hosting for the first half of the season. The start date is flexible, but hosts are needed until September 30 when the park closes for the season.

Responsibilities
In addition to the key responsibilities outlined in the volunteer host description, hosts at Peaceful Valley have the following site-specific duties:
- Review the weekly reservation report to learn about each group and their requested amenities.
- Unlock the gate to the park and open the lodge each morning before the group arrives; lock and close up in the afternoon when the group leaves.
- Prepare requested amenities, such as coffee upon arrival, lawn games, BBQ access, and golf cart tours.
- Welcome visitors and show them around the facility (e.g. bathroom, outdoor seating, kitchen).
- Educate visitors about the unique history of the park and the walking trails they can explore.
- Lead golf cart tours through the 2 km trail in the park and share information about the flora, fauna, and history of the land.
- Provide assistance with operating the BBQ and using other amenities in the lodge.
- Tidy the lodge after each group, including wiping tables and surfaces, restocking supplies, cleaning the floors, and washing towels and dishcloths.
Additional Information
- Peaceful Valley Provincial Recreation Area and Day Lodge provides opportunities for organizations who serve seniors, persons with disabilities and the terminally ill in central Alberta to provide day trips for clients to a beautiful, serene location. The park and lodge are open Monday to Friday by reservation only. Due to high demand, groups can book once per season.
- This placement requires physically active hosts who are confident working with seniors and individuals with disabilities. Key skills include flexibility, patience, empathy, compassion, and clear communication.
- Hosts are scheduled to volunteer during daytime hours Monday through Friday and will have weekends off.
