Do you enjoy interacting with customers? Are you looking for a unique summer employment opportunity? Then consider one of many Information Officer positions being offered for hire in Southern Alberta for the 2023 tourist season.
Information Officers (IOs) are often the first point of contact for visitors to Alberta Parks, thus set the tone for all visitor park interactions. You will provide excellent customer service to visitors and campers.
General duties include, but are not limited to, the day-to-day operations of facilities that may include Visitor centres, booths and cafes or camp stores. Daily tasks typically include reception duties, conducting opening and closing procedures and till close-outs. Information Officers provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors in-person, over the phone and online.
Each location also assigns duties relevant to location operations.
Beauvais Lake/Castle Provincial Parks: Located in Southwest Alberta within the Pincher Creek District. Operations are based out of Beauvais Lake Provincial Park with travel to various parks and recreation areas including Castle, Chain Lakes, Chinook, Lundbreck Falls and many more. Each park provides its own unique experience and recreational opportunities. You will provide information to visitors and assist with revenue collection at a variety of dispersed campgrounds in the region. Onsite, fully furnished accommodations may be available for rent.
Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park: Cypress Hills District is located 65km South of Medicine Hat and covers approximately 200 sq km of provincial park. The district includes Red Rock Coulee, Bullshead Reservoir, Michelle Reservoir and Milk River Natural Area. The focal point is the Elkwater town site with 300 cottages, 11 campgrounds,5 group camps and front & backcountry comfort camping. You will work out of both the Visitor Centre and campground booths providing information and retail services, campground registrations and reservation support. Onsite, fully furnished accommodations may be available for rent.
Dinosaur Provincial Park (DPP): Located 48km NE of Brooks, Alberta and is rich in cultural and natural heritage. This UNESCO World Heritage Site attracts visitors from all over the world to experience the landscape of the badlands, its rich fossil resources, and the riparian habitat. Information Officers at Dinosaur Provincial Park will be employed at either of the following facilities:
Kinbrook Island Provincial Park: Located in the Dinosaur District, this is a popular destination for camping and outdoor recreation. The lake, beach area, surrounding marshes and large campground provide many outdoor activities such as boating, swimming, sunbathing, fishing, hiking, bird watching and more.
Tillebrook Provincial Park: Located in the Dinosaur District, this area is an oasis on the prairie and is a popular campground for locals, avid bird watchers and those that love a beautiful prairie sunset.
Writing-on-Stone/ Áísínai’pi Provincial Park: is located 42km east of Milk River, AB and is an important cultural site to the Blackfoot people. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019 and welcomes visitors from all over the world to experience the unique badlands environment and its deep cultural usages. Information Officers work out of both the visitor centre and campground store providing information and retail services, campground registrations and reservation support to visitors. Onsite, fully furnished accommodations may be available for rent.
