Research & Collection Activities in Alberta's Parks

Alberta's parks provide excellent locations for scientific and research activities given their value as natural laboratories with long-term protection. We encourage research where it can be conducted with minimal risk to the environment and minimal disturbance to visitors.

• A Parks Research and Collection Permit must be obtained prior to the start of any research and collection activities that occur on lands managed by Parks Division. 
• A single permit may be issued to authorize research or collection at more than one location IF conducted by the same individual or research group. 
• There are no fees associated with applying for or obtaining a Parks Research and Collection Permit.

Applying for a Research & Collection Permit

• Submit your permit application at least 30 days in advance of the proposed start date for the research or collection activity.
• Apply for a Parks Research and Collection permit online.

Applications for Parks Research and Collection Permits and Wildlife Research and Collection Licence  are now completed using a single application process.
