Explore the picturesque winter trails in the Crown of the Continent through your choice of snowshoeing or hiking! Through hands-on activities, games and stories, students will discover how animals survive harsh winter conditions through amazing adaptations. Students will explore research techniques used by Park Ecologists to help inform management in Alberta Parks. Students learn about their own comfort navigating landscapes in the winter and are rewarded with a great sense of accomplishment!

Winter Ecology is the study of interrelationships between living things and their winter context. Animals use special adaptations, identified through the SCREW factor and the science of snow to survive winter. Research in Alberta Parks supports the management decisions to promote ecological integrity. |
