Incorrect dates
Refund can be provided before or on the start date of the pass if another pass is purchased for the correct dates.
Incorrect pass type purchased
- Purchased an annual pass or multi-day pass when only a day pass was required, and technical difficulties occurred due to a free day. The start date and license plate must be the same on both passes for compliance purposes.
- Upgrading from a day or multi-day pass to an annual pass. The upgrade must happen before, during, or the day after expiry – the upgraded pass start date must be the same as the original pass.
- Purchased a commercial pass instead of a personal pass (or vice versa). The correct pass must be paid for within 30 days of the original purchase before a refund is provided for the incorrect pass. The pass originally purchased must still be active and one or both license plates must match.
- Bought a Kananaskis Conservation Pass instead of a Parks Canada pass or visiting an area outside of Kananaskis Conservation Pass boundary (i.e. McLean Creek Public Land Use Zone or Provincial Recreation Area). Refunds will only be provided before or on the start date of the pass.
Duplicate purchase of pass for the same licence plate
Refund will be processed for the duplicate pass purchased if original pass is active at the time of refund request and if plates are matching 0n both passes.
Qualified for an exemption
- First Nations exemption. A full refund will be provided for First Nation individuals that purchased a pass and then successfully apply for an exemption (must occur within the same year). A refund will be provided after the exemption is issued.
- A business owner purchased a pass but qualifies for an exemption (has to occur within same year and permit needs to be active). Eg: If an active employee purchases a pass while eligible for an exemption, a refund may be considered. No refunds will be provided retroactively when purchased prior to eligibility.
- Qualify for an exemption after pass purchase.
System error
In rare cases, a system error may occur that causes incorrect charges. In these cases, you are eligible for a refund of any extra fees charged to you in error.
Staff or call centre error
In a case where there was a staff error a full refund may be provided.
If a Kananaskis Conservation Pass that has already started is refunded and you do not purchase a new pass to visit the Kananaskis Conservation Pass area, you are at risk of receiving a fine.
