Alberta Parks is seeking input from the public and stakeholders on a draft redevelopment plan, vision, concept design, and programming options for the Sikome Aquatic Facility. Sikome is an artificial waterbody located within Fish Creek Provincial Park in the City of Calgary that serves as a public swimming area during the summer months. Sikome is currently open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (Monday through Sunday) in the summer months (e.g. mid-June to early September).
Visitation to Sikome has exponentially increased since it opened in the late 1970’s. There is a need to update the facility to provide a modern urban provincial park visitor experience that reflects current trends in programming, open space demands, and connects Albertans to nature.
The draft plan defines a long-term vision, programming options, and capital upgrades and amenities for Sikome. The plan was developed with the consideration of feedback provided by stakeholders and the public in Phase 1 (August 2017) of the project. The 30-day public input period for Phase 2 of the Sikome Aquatic Facility Redevelopment Plan project is open from April 25 to May 24, 2018.

Alberta Parks will compile all feedback from the public and stakeholders obtained during the consultation period. A decision regarding the project will consider all feedback. A Phase 2 Engagement “What We Heard” report and the final redevelopment plan and concept design will be posted on this webpage at www.albertaparks.ca/consult once a decision has been made about the project.
