Water turned off for season

  • The water system and dump station at William A. Switzer Provincial Park have been shut down for winter.
  • No services are available in winter; road maintenance is limited.
  • Winter camping is available First Come-First Served in Gregg Lake Campground - Lakeside Loop sites 1-16.
  • Campers should bring their own water and firewood.  
  • Loops A, B, C, D, E, F, G and Lakeside Loop 17-38 in Gregg Lake Campground are CLOSED until May 17, 2017.

This large campground is found in William A. Switzer Provincial Park, 3 km west of Hinton on Hwy. 16 and 19 km north on Hwy. 40. Sites are suitable for both RVs and tents, including unserviced, powered, power/water, and pull-through options. Most sites are surrounded by mature trees for privacy, with one loop located right next to Gregg Lake. There are playgrounds, a boat launch, dock and swimming area. This campground also has showers, interpretive programs, hiking and biking trails, and a small campground store. Within the park there are beaches, boating opportunities, and additional trails in close driving distance.

              Firewood  Firewood is sold onsite for $8/bag, as well as at the Switzer Park Visitor Centre and Cache Campground, hours vary and during peak season only.

              Water  During winter, water is available from a hand pump. Although Alberta Parks strives to maintain water quality, we recommend that you bring your own drinking water.
