Swan Festival

Swan Festival kick-off

  • Saturday, April 23 7:00 p.m.- 9:30 p.m. at Centre 2000 in Grande Prairie
  • John Neville (Of Neville Recording; has produced 17 sound guides to bird I.D, published articles in several journals, and received awards for his work that is currently exhibited in the Robert Bateman Centre; past President of B.C Nature) presenting "Bird Songs of the Boreal Forest: Cradle for Billions of Songbirds.”
  • Music, silent auction and wine & cheese social to follow
  • Admission is by donation.  All proceeds will support environmental education, nature preservation and stewardship at Saskatoon Island Provincial Park.

Swan Festivities

  • Sunday, April 24 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m in Saskatoon Island Day Use Area
  • Family activities include crafts and face-painting, educational displays
  • Barbeque: $5/soup & drink, $5/hotdog & drink, $2/treat, $2/drink

Swan-Viewing Guided Bus Tours

  • Sunday, April 24 with tours departing every 30 minutes from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m from Saskatoon Island Day Use Area
  • Tours approximately 1.5 hours long, led by Alberta Parks staff and volunteers 
  • Cost $5/person or $20/family

Seniors' Swan-Viewing Bus Tours

  • Taking place April 19-28
  • Buses will pick seniors up from registered senior homes for guided swan tours.
  • The tours finish at the Beaverlodge Cultural Centre for tea and treats.
