Legal Land Description
Boreal Forest Natural Region

Located just 20 km west of Grande Prairie, Saskatoon Island Provincial Park is an island of forest in a sea of farmland. The park offers a full range of recreational activities including camping, hiking, boating, swimming, berry picking and wildlife viewing. Saskatoon Island is a federal migratory bird sanctuary. The lake, forest and shrub land habitats are home to an incredible diversity of birds including the threatened trumpeter swan.

Saskatoon Island Provincial Park is located within the Grande Prairie Important Bird Area; the park is home to large numbers of grassland, forest & lakeside birds; rare trumpeter swans can be observed from viewing platform on Little Lake; the Friends of Saskatoon Island Cooperating Association holds a swan festival in the park each April.
