This trail climbs on an old fire road for 4.9 km before it crosses a meadow and reaches West Elk Pass. You can continue into British Columbia and the Elk Lakes Provincial Park (BC Parks). Elk Lakes headquarters and and the Alpine Club of Canada's Elk Lakes Cabin (alpineclubofcanada.ca/facility/elklakes.html) are located 4.3 km from the Alberta/BC border. Note that bikes are not permitted in Elk Lakes Provincial Park. The summer trail differs from the winter one in that the Elk Pass Cross-Country Ski Trail continues up to the hydroline. | |
