Please note that the West Bragg Creek parking lot and access road will be under a full site closure including all areas west of the park boundary at the cattle guard. The closure will be in effect for the following dates:

The project will be continuing with roadworks and paving operations during these times resulting in a significant increase in heavy truck traffic and disturbances to the access road. In order to insure safety of the public, access for all users will not be permitted during times of closure.

Although an advisory is in place for this area, bears can be encountered anywhere in Kananaskis Country at any time. To avoid a surprise encounter with a bear:

What: Alberta Parks is upgrading West Bragg Creek Provincial Recreation Area. The parking lot will be expanded and paved and trailhead amenities will be enhanced.
When: The majority of construction will occur between March 29th and July 31th 2017. Remaining construction will be minimal and is expected to be completed by the autumn. Public access will be limited. There may be periodic closures.
Why: Upgrades will help to reduce parking lot congestion and user conflict, create safe emergency access, improve the all-season trailhead experience for a variety of users, help maintain the trail system, and benefit local economic development.
