Off-Season Access

  • In mid-October, the park access road gate is closed for the season.  Vehicle access into the park does not open again until mid-May.
  • Vehicles can still access the viewpoint during this period.
  • Roads and trails in this area can become very slippery when wet making them unsafe or impassable for both vehicle and foot traffic. (This is due to the high content of bentonite, a clay-like material.) The access road from the viewpoint to the park's day use area is often closed during wet conditions.
