The Steveville Bridge site in Dinosaur Provincial Park offers a rustic camping experience on the Red Deer River, adjacent to Highway 876. It has long been popular with local campers from the Brooks area. In 1997, a group of "regulars" heard of plans to change the site to a day use area. They contacted park staff to see what could be done. Discussions resulted in volunteer agreements with several individuals who agreed to work together to do maintenance during operating season.
These dedicated volunteers have painted buildings, shingled roofs on the shelter and outhouses, and installed fire pits. They have also hauled many garbage bags to the Newell Regional Landfill, 50 kilometres away. Thanks to the Steveville volunteers' commitment and willingness to share, visitors are able to enjoy this site in Alberta's spectacular badlands.
In June 2008, many of the Steveville volunteers were recognized for 10 years service through the parks volunteer program.
