Organic bogs and fens cover most of the central portion of the park while sand dunes and sand plains cover much of the rest. Black spruce bogs, tamarack-swamp birch fens and open sedge fens more typical of the Boreal Forest approach their southern limit within the park. Park visitors can enjoy a variety of outdoor experiences, abundant wildlife such as moose and deer, and the solitude of dense evergreen forests.
