Celebrate Canada's Parks Day with Kananaskis Country! 

This is a fantastic outing for families - lots to do, see and touch.

Parks Day offers a great learning opportunity for children and adults - all free of charge!

Learn about the range of services offered by Alberta Parks:

• Natural Resources Management - bear monitoring (collaring, tagging, telemetry, aversive conditioning)
• Public Safety - mountain rescue (climbing, biking, boating or equestrian accidents, helicopter sling rescue)
• Environmental Education - interpreter performance, displays related to fauna and flora
• Outreach Program - aimed at making parks more accessible to persons with disabilities

Parks Day will feature exhibits by

• Alberta Biathlon Club - demonstrations in their shooting range trailer
• Alberta Birds of Prey Centre - with live birds
• Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation - with live animals injured or rescued as orphans
• The Alberta Invasive Plant Council teaches about the non-native plants that are colonizing our landscapes
• Alberta Mycological Society - presenting a great number of local fungus species
• Alberta Native Plant Council - teaches about the non-native plants colonizing our landscapes
• Alpine Club of Canada - instruction and accommodation to enjoy the Rocky Mountains backcountry
• Alpine Helicopters - with "a bird on the ground" and pilots to answer questions
• Archaeological Society of Alberta - with displays and information on local finds
• Bow Habitat Station, Sam Livingston Hatchery and Trout Unlimited - games and education about fish habitat
• The Bow Valley Volunteer Steward program is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the natural integrity of
• Bow Valley WildSmart will present their educational program, including the Wildlife Ambassador
• Canmore Artists and Artisans Guild - making Art in the Park
• CrimeStoppers - community initiatives to reduce crime
• Fish Master - demonstrating the art of tying a fly and fly fishing
• The Forest Protection, Southern Rockies section of Sustainable Resource Development
• Friends of Fish Creek - teaching about watersheds through an interactive game show
• Friends of Kananaskis Country - promoting trail care and environmental education
• Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation - will tell the story of this brand new Alberta Park
• Horse whisperer, Pam Asheton - will teach about communicating with horses
• Lethbridge College - with information on becoming a Conservation Officer
• Mahikan Trails' Brenda Holder - the world of medicianl plants and the native uses of them
• Mountain Equipment Co-op - demonstration campsite, featuring all kinds of useful gear
• Push to Open Nature Society - TrailRiders and specialty equipment allowing persons with disabilities to enjoy parks
• RANA (Reseraching Amphibian Numbers in Alberta) is a Citizen Scientest program that helps track amphibian populations across the province
• Rocky Mountain Eagle Research Foundation - tracking the raptor migration over Kananaskis Country
• Other enforcement and rescue agencies

Finally, there is a BBQ lunch, face painting, entertainment and prize draws!
