The park contains peatlands, a California gull colony, and one of Canada's only free-roaming wood bison herds outside of Wood Buffalo National Park. Lakes in the park support lake trout, lake whitefish, cisco, Arctic grayling, walleye and yellow perch; osprey and bald eagles nest in the larger trees around the lakes.
