School Programs

Alberta's provincial parks are a living legacy for learning. Our award-winning, curriculum-based educational programs bring environmental education alive. Environmental education promotes life-long learning related to natural and human-created environments. Environmental education seeks to develop:

  • a recognition of the human interdependency with other forms of life and the physical environment;
  • an aesthetic appreciation of the environment; and
  • the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary to ensure a healthy environment and its sustainability.

We work with teachers to help students understand the physical world, ecology and the diversity of life. Our education specialists deliver engaging programs that encourage students in critical and creative thinking, problem-solving and decision-making. This empowers youth to become stewards of a healthy, sustainable environment.

Field Programs in Parks

  • Our enthusiastic environmental educators deliver interesting programs in parks.
  • Teachers can also use self-prepared lessons with their students at any provincial park.

Parks in the Classroom

Bring Alberta's parks to your school and bring science and social studies curricula alive. Parks in the Classroom offers high-energy musical theate for the whole school plus more intimate, in-depth classroom sessions.

Educational Videoconferencing

Videoconferencing is a way to bring parks to your students if you can't bring your students to a park. We offer several videoconference opportunities from sites across the province.

Learning Resources

  • We also have resources that teachers and students can use to support learning about Alberta's parks.
