Information Officer (12 Month Position)

Cypress Hills Provincial Park - Are you highly organized? Do you love working with people? Are you passionate about the outdoors? Alberta Parks is seeking an energetic Information Officer to join the team at Cypress Hills Provincial Park for a 12-month position.

  • Classification: Administrative Support
  • Closing Date: March 2, 2017
  • Rate of Pay: $19.20-$23.37/hr (plus 11.2% in lieu of benefits & weekend/evening premium)

Responsibilities

  • Welcoming visitors and informing them of recreational opportunities in the park
  • Providing information to visitors on local area attractions, as well as other parks
  • Processing gift shop sales, and promoting and selling tour tickets; operating a till, handling cash, processing debit and credit transactions
  • Assisting with special events and accommodation bookings
  • Assisting with social media and marketing initiatives
  • Light cleaning

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required; related post-secondary considered an asset
  • Experience handling cash, use of point of sale equipment and till
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Publisher, Excel, Outlook)
  • Demonstrated organizational, prioritization and time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision
  • Class 5 driver's license and current defensive driving course
  • Customer service and/or tourism experience considered an asset
  • Knowledge of park facilities and services, and natural and cultural history considered an asset

Term of Employment

  • 12-month position, with possibility of extension 
  • Shift and weekend work required

Notes

  • Final candidates required to provide a criminal records check and driver's abstract
  • On-site, fully furnished rental accommodations available
